Bill Dolson is an artist, art historian, and computer engineering consultant based in New Mexico, whose work occupies a unique juncture of New Media and Land Art with conceptual components.
Dolson’s current artwork involves landscape and often focuses on the atmosphere. His work includes large-scale land art pieces that employ dynamic geophysical processes. At a more human scale, he creates light and video projections that provide novel experiences of the landscape.
Much of Dolson’s art is informed by his consulting work in the aerospace sector.
Dolson has been creating video and computer animation since the early 1970s. A long-time resident of New York City, his early collaborators were dancers, fashion designers, and filmmakers. In subsequent years, produced immersive installations.
From 2006-2007, Dolson was an artist-in-residence at Eyebeam in NYC.
