Eyebeam’s Interim Executive Director

A friend and champion of Eyebeam

In March 2025, Eyebeam’s Board Chair and Vice Chair shared with you, our community, about a new chapter at the organization and our assurance that we will continue to support and nourish experimentation, innovation, and creativity. As part of our commitment to that work, we are thrilled to welcome Sheetal Prajapati as Interim Executive Director, beginning tomorrow, July 1.

An educator, artist, and advisor, Sheetal comes to us as a friend and champion of Eyebeam. During the past eight months, she has worked closely with the Board and Staff in a consulting capacity and helped lead the organization with a depth of continuity, clarity, and care.

Sheetal brings over 20 years of expertise to Eyebeam, advising and collaborating with peer cultural organizations such as NEW INC, Recess, The Laundromat Project, and Creative Capital through her agency, Lohar Projects. Her experience leading organizational transitions through interim leadership at The Flaherty and Common Field, uniquely position her to purposefully guide us through this critical period of transformation.

We are also tremendously excited to benefit from Sheetal’s expertise in artist initiatives, programming, and engagement—she served as the inaugural Director of Public Engagement at Pioneer Works, where she oversaw strategic planning for public engagement across the institution, from visitor services to programming—as we reorient our community engagement and public programming.

Over the next three months, and as we gear up to shape what we collectively envision what leadership looks like at Eyebeam, Sheetal will continue overseeing the ongoing community-design initiative work that we recently began with FLOX Studio. We took on this effort to re-engage with our community more purposefully: re-designing our thinking and execution of programs and external efforts, reviewing the organization’s trajectory, and locating areas of growth as we respond to opportunities and systemic challenges facing the broader art and technology community in the height of technofascism. Our goal for this process is to steward our relationship-building with you, our artist and alumni community, and network of peer organizations, all of whom are essential in shaping the future of Eyebeam.

As always, we welcome you to reach out to us via eyebeamnyc@pm.me, as we are looking to create more conversations and more windows of opportunity.

In solidarity and to more conversations with you all,
The Board and Staff of Eyebeam
