This photo booth was created for the “Olympiad” mixer that took place on March 12&13th, 2010. The following materials were used for the curling stone hat:
Red & Silver Pleather
Batting – to give the puffy look in the silver area
Cardboard – to stiffen the vertical part of the side of the stone, to give shape to the red top
Stiff wire – to stiffen handle part
Glue gun – to stick top to metal stone
A person gets under the stage, sticks his head through the hole, and wears the curling stone hat. The other people stand on the stage either releasing the stone, or brushing. Group photo is taken! More photos are here on flickr.

Erik Fabian is an artist working in performance, installation, and conceptual art. He is a graduate of the Masters of Fine Arts degree program at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Erik is also the principal at Double Happiness LLC, an experience design consultancy that helps people, organizations, and brands: innovate, collaborate, and build meaningful relationships with their stakeholders.

In the aftermath of the 2010 Winter Olympics, Eyebeam will help alleviate the post-Games hangover with its own international athletic spectacular, MIXER: OLYMPIAD. Artists, designers, musicians, engineers, and hackers alike will stage events that evoke the passion, the drive, the danger, and the majesty of competitive sport and mass spectacle. Join one of the five competing nations, and race for Olympic glory!
Eyebeam is running a torch relay as part of opening ceremony for MIXER: OLYMPIAD, and we want you to carry the torch for a leg of it!
To be exact, we want you to make a video of yourself running with something vaguely torch-like in an outdoor setting. The video should start with you entering the frame from the left, and end with you handing off the torch to an unseen person out of the frame to the right. This is important because we will edit the videos together so that the relay (handing off the torch) looks more or less continuous. Your video should be no longer than 1 minute. But beyond that, it's pretty much up to you what you do. The crazier the better.
Aaron Meyers is a designer and programmer using generative strategies in the creation of software and moving image. Since earning his MFA at the USC Interactive Media Division in 2007, Meyers worked in the now-defunct Yahoo Design Innovation Team, taught classes at UCLA Design|Media Arts and continues to work on a variety of interactive projects for diverse clients that have included Digg, Radiohead, and Diller Scofidio + Renfro.
Prior to working as a Fellow at Eyebeam, as a Research Associate, Aaron was a frequent collaborator of Jeff Crouse, Eyebeam senior fellow. Their projects, Praying@Home and The World Series of 'Tubing were presented at Eyebeam MIXER events in March and June 2009, respectively.
