Project Summary

The Real Costs is a Firefox web browser plug-in that inserts CO2 emissions data into airplane travel e-commerce websites such as Orbitz.com, United.com, Delta.com, and so on. Like the nutritional information labeling included on food packaging, this plug-in provides emissions information that is otherwise excluded from travel websites.

In Light of Recent Events
An exhibition of necessary research
during Art Basel, Miami Beach

Curated by SPECTREVISION
Wynwood Arts District, December 2-5, 2010
Lions Gallery @ Museovault
346 NW 29th Street, Miami, FL 33127

Showcasing contemporary work inspired by current events. In navigating the borderlands of investigative practice, spectre long ago abandoned the catalogue notion of “genre”; as such spectrevision humbly presents studio art work juxtaposed interchangeably with experiments and efforts that defy current modes of categorization, displayed alongside research materials and other relevant findings.

My environmental focused plugins are included in the exhibition End of Oil at Exit Art. The opening is this Saturday, June 13th from 6-8. The exhibition runs from June 13 – July 31, 2009.

A project of SEA (Social-Environmental Aesthetics) , The End of Oil is an exhibition of photography, prints, videos, installations and new media that addresses human dependence on oil and other fossil fuels; the ramifications that this dependency has on the future of the environment and of global geopolitics; and the recent push towards viable alternative energy resources.

I’m speaking at Transmediale without going. The session is called Critical Consumer Practice

I’m doing this because of a combination of reasons: carbon footprint, doctors orders, and the still persistent utopian desire for the network to actually connect us.

Transmediale has live streams, which are documented here. It will be going on starting at 7AM in New York, and is a salon, not a panel. It will last three hours, and I will be somewhere in there for 30 minutes.
