Drew :: Art-design interventions on transport

Shared by reBlog @ Eyebeam

Transport is not an obvious choice for a festival theme. And transport is not easy to hack, as transport infrastructure is such large scale and can take decades to build. This makes it more of a challenge, and in a way more interesting, to run a living art lab on new mobilities.

In 2009, I did a day long workshop with the UK Government's Department of Transport and friends at the Centre for Mobilities Research at Lancaster University, where I spoke on using art-design interventions to create new perspectives on transport, as a part of a Digital Economies workshop.

Art-design interventions on transport

Hi Drew,
this is the third random prod i have given you in the last two weeks, one informal in person at vision media, one flippant twitter comment and now something closer to my heart.

Hopefully get the green light tomorrow on an art intervention at Piccadilly train station some of us have been working on for a few months.

I think this may be coming from a different perspective than yours. I like the captive mass audience and the fixed a-b routine mental state as an opportunity to momentarily divert peoples attention and create some communion and serendipity.

So not exactly Art-design interventions on transport as Art-design interventions on transport or at least on a station concourse.
