Dying for the Other, is part of Eyebeam Artist in Residence Beatriz da Costa's Cost of Life series. It is a video triptych addressing the shared suffering between the mice used in breast cancer research and humans afflicted with the same disease. For this video, da Costa combined documentation of her own life with footage of a breast cancer research facility in New York City. All filming for this project took place over the course of the summer of 2011. Dying for the Other is on view in the Eyebeam Project Space from October 25th - November 13th. The Project Space at Eyebeam is an informal venue for our Residents and Fellows to exhibit and workshop their work.
