Eyebeam's Commissioned Resident Artist Taeyoon Choi is looking for a Research Intern to assist him with researching, writing, and publishing his Camerautomat Project. The internship includes interdisciplinary research on the history, theory and critical reflections on cameras and photography, tourism and tourists, artificial intelligence and robotics, and urban media and urban space. The research is closely related to the production of Choi's Camerautomata Project, an autonomous robotic duck made by hacking electronic objects that shoots and prints pictures in public space.
The ideal candidate is a graduate student or recent graduate with a major in Media Studies, Visual Critical Studies or Contemporary Art Theory, with a special interest in digital media and performance art. Some research and writing experience is expected.
The intern's duties include completing assigned research, attending meetings, and writing and editing text with the artist. The research material will be published in an international journal with proper credit for the intern.
The internship duration will be February through July, and will consist of weekly meeting and 6 hours a week minimum. The candidate should include a cover letter and an example of research/writing work in an e-mail to interinfo AT eyebeam DOT org with the subject “Taeyoon Research Intern.”
