Eyebeam's Technology Department seeks assistance with the cataloging, tracking, and general organization of its large equipment inventory. Major gadget-heads will enjoy this chance to play with some of the newest high tech toys. Neat freaks will appreciate this opportunity to perfect the organization and record keeping systems in place to keep track of Eyebeam's gear. Regular tasks will include data entry, online research of equipment (including potential new purchases), and organization of the equipment storage areas. Qualified candidates will be familiar with a variety of technological equipment and comfortable working on Apple computers. Familiarity with database systems and use of wikis is a plus, but we're most interested in finding someone eager to learn within our creative and high tech community.

Research Intern

Eyebeam's Commissioned Resident Artist Taeyoon Choi is looking for a Research Intern to assist him with researching, writing, and publishing his Camerautomat Project. The internship includes interdisciplinary research on the history, theory and critical reflections on cameras and photography, tourism and tourists, artificial intelligence and robotics, and urban media and urban space. The research is closely related to the production of Choi's Camerautomata Project, an autonomous robotic duck made by hacking electronic objects that shoots and prints pictures in public space.
The ideal candidate is a graduate student or recent graduate with a major in Media Studies, Visual Critical Studies or Contemporary Art Theory, with a special interest in digital media and performance art. Some research and writing experience is expected.
The intern's duties include completing assigned research, attending meetings, and writing and editing text with the artist. The research material will be published in an international journal with proper credit for the intern.
The internship duration will be February through July, and will consist of weekly meeting and 6 hours a week minimum. The candidate should include a cover letter and an example of research/writing work in an e-mail to interinfo AT eyebeam DOT org with the subject “Taeyoon Research Intern.”

Eyebeam Commissioned Resident Artist Joseph DeLappe seeks an intern to assist with a variety of tasks related to the ongoing project, Iraqimemorial.org. Looking for an intern with a broad knowledge, capabilities and interest in contemporary activist art, web research and PR skills essential. Intern will conduct research and assist with this ongoing project to memorialize the innocent civilian casualties in the Iraq conflict. Activities will include assistance with contacts with artists, jurors, development of anticipated panel discussion and other activities related to the ongoing administration and dissemination of Iraqimemorial.org. Gaming/MMPORG Intern

Eyebeam Commissioned Resident Artist Joseph DeLappe (dead-in-iraq, Quake/Friends http://www.delappe.net), seeks an intern to assist with a variety of tasks related to two new and one ogoing online gaming intervention/performance. Knowledge, experience and abilities in online gaming environments and MMPORG's essential. Intern will conduct basic research of future online venues for two new works, “Reenactment: Gandhi’s March to Dandi—The Salt Satyagraha Online”, March 12 – April 6, 2008 and the planned 2008 reenactment of the fall Presidential debates. Intern will also assist with the ongoing implementation and dissemination of “dead-in-iraq”, including assisting with a planned live performance of this work on March 20, 2008. Hardware Intern

Eyebeam's Commissioned Resident Artist Taeyoon Choi is looking for a D.I.Y Hardware Hacking enthusiast, or Embedded Computing Engineer, or Interaction Designer, or Artist or whoeve r would like take to part in building duck automata which photograph and print pictures into public space. The candidate should have good knowledge of electronics and physical computing. We will be hacking digital cameras, portable photo printers, RC cars, nd robotic pets and utilizing Arduino/Wiring to make a tool for urban intervention and performance. Scheduling is flexible, although a minimum of one day a week is good. Your contribution of skills and ideas will be highly respected. All the works will be open source and properly credited.
